English Speakers Of Other Languages (ESOL)
As we work with West Thames College we use the same curricullum as the college does. The current curriculum we therefore use is called Skills For Life which has got various levels.
When a student calls at our centre intending to be board on ESOL classes, their eligibility is thoroughly checked and subsequently given an initial assessment test. This gives us a clear picture to which level they suppose to be on. Once the individual is placed to the appropriate classe level, they are diagnosed due the course as this tells us the strenghts and the weaknesses this individual has.
An individual learning plan (ILP) is designed as a result of the diagnosed assessment and an individaul appointment is arranged to discuss the outcomes with the learners privately and this gives the learner the opportunity to talk about both their weaknesses and strenghts and ultimately targets are designed for the learner to achieve.
Learners are informed before hand the type of the exam they will be doing by the end of their course and of course they are assisted through the way in order to achieve their potentials
The ESOL levels we currently teach include:
- Beginners;
- Entry 1; 2; 3 and
- Level 1
There are also students who are on Level1 and now working towards Level 2
